As China’s aging population grows and more consumers adopt unhealthy Western lifestyle practices, an increasing number or Chinese suffers from diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and metabolic disorders. These lifestyle diseases increase the demand for food for special medical purposes (FSMP).
Previously, FSMP was registered as a drug in China and the high CFDA registration fee limited the number of products available on the Chinese market. To alleviate this market barrier and provide more options for patients and doctors, the Chinese government is gradually opening up for foreign produced FSMP and has launched supporting regulations in line with international standards.
Knudsen CRC assists foreign producers of FSMP obtaining market access to China.
